“Turnstone” offers a spacious and practical layout designed for comfortable extended cruising. The interior is finished in classic Grand Banks teak, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. All interior upholstery was replaced in 2023, and the flybridge upholstery in 2021.

• Salon & Living Area: The main salon is the heart of the vessel, featuring an L-shaped settee to starboard for relaxed lounging and an oval teak table with storage. Custom Grand Banks swivel chairs provide additional seating. Port and starboard side doors provide excellent ventilation and easy deck access. A dedicated bar cabinet with an ice maker ensures you feel at home.

• Sleeping Areas: The accommodation includes two private staterooms. The main cabin features a convenient island berth and a large private head to starboard, and a completely separate shower to port. There is plenty of storage for all. The forward cabin offers a large, versatile V-berth with a filler piece, closet storage, as well as an adjoining head with an integrated shower area. Both heads are equipped with new electric toilets for ease of use.

• Cockpit & Flybridge: The aft cockpit provides easy access to the swim platform and the spacious flybridge. The flybridge is an exceptional outdoor living space with fore and aft seating, an L-shaped settee, a teak table, and a full suite of helm controls—perfect for entertaining and enjoying panoramic views while underway. It is covered by a large bimini, which provides great protection from the sun.

As with most Grand Banks 42’s, Turnstone is equipped with comprehensive systems for self-sufficient long-term living aboard.

• Cooking: The L-shaped galley is an uncommon layout and provides additional counter space and storage. It is equipped with a Force 10 three-burner propane stove and oven, a Nova Kool 12V refrigerator and separate freezer, as well as a new U-Line 110V ice maker. A Zintex propane detector ensures safety.

• Heating & Hot Water: Comfort in cooler climates is provided by an Espar diesel furnace. A Raritan 12-gallon hot water heater (2018) supplies ample hot water to the galley, heads, and the hot/cold cockpit shower.

• Toilets: The vessel features two heads, each with its own electric toilet and macerator pump, ensuring reliable and odour-free waste management. Please note, the entire sanitation system was replaced in 2023, including new toilets, hoses, holding tank and macerator.

The electrical system had a complete audit in 2022 by Propel Marine Electric. All recommendations were attended to. The system is robust and modernized for reliability, featuring both AC and DC systems with ample power generation and storage.

• Charging & Batteries: A Xantrex True Charge 40-amp battery charger (2018) efficiently charges the house bank of six 12V AGM house batteries (2021). Also is a single 8-D 12V starting battery and a separate 4-D generator starting battery. A smart regulator on the main engine provides supplemental charging with a Prestolite 65 amp alternator.

• Generator: An Onan 8kW generator with a sound shield provides ample power for all household appliances when off the dock. The AC system is protected by GFCIs throughout.

• Inverter & Protection: A Magnum Energy Pure Sine 2800-watt inverter allows for the silent operation of 110V appliances without the generator. The system is monitored via Cruising Equipment amp-hour meters and voltage/amp meters at the lower helm.

The vessel is outfitted with a comprehensive suite of modern and reliable electronics for safe and confident navigation. A new Garmin suite of electronics was installed in 2021. The existing system was kept for redundancy and runs separately.

• Chartplotter & GPS: Touchscreen and wifi integrated Garmin 8612 and 8610 chart plotters are the primary navigation displays for accurate positioning.

• Radar: Garin Fantom 24 dome added in 2021. A separate Furuno 1832 36-mile radar has been kept as a redundant backup.

• Autopilot: A Garmin autopilot integrates with the navigation system for effortless passage-making. New autopilot rudder controls added in 2023.

• Radios & AIS: Communication is handled by a Standard Horizon GX2100 VHF with a Smart Mic. For enhanced collision avoidance, a Digital Yacht AIS Class B receiver (2018) broadcasts the vessel’s position and receives data from other AIS-equipped vessels.

• Additional Instruments: A Garmin depth sounder and a Furuno GP-31 GPS add redundancy to the system. An intercom system allows for communication between key areas on the boat.

• Anchor & Chain: The primary anchor is a heavy-duty 25kg Vulcan anchor, deployed on 250 feet of all-chain 3/8” rode for superior holding power. A Danforth stern anchor with 250’ of rode is also carried for multi-directional holding or stern-to docking.

• Windlass: A Lofrans 12V electric windlass with controls at both helms and at the bow makes raising and lowering the anchor a simple one-person operation. Double stainless steel bow rollers facilitate easy deployment and stowage.

• Tender: The vessel carries a 9.5-foot AB tender. AB tenders are renowned for their high-quality construction, durability, and excellent seakeeping abilities, providing a safe and stable platform for shore transfers, exploration, and recreation.

  The tender is powered by a 6hp Yamaha outboard motor from 2017.
