1980 Hans Christian 38 MK II

Introduction

About the 1980 Hans Christian 38 MK II

The Hans Christian 38 MK II is perfect for cruisers who prioritize safety, comfort, and traditional craftsmanship over speed or modern aesthetic. If you want a proven offshore boat that can handle long passages with confidence, this is an excellent choice.

The current owner has owned the boat for over 20 years and has sailed all over the Pacific Ocean. They were going through a full refit in 2023 and 2024, but life circumstances changed, and they are unable to head out again. The next owner can be confident in this well-respected design and be very happy with the most recent upgrades.

  1. New Sole Mini 44 engine with <100 hrs.

  2. New aluminum fuel tanks, 160 gallons total

  3. Hull taken down to fibreglass, new barrier coat, new bottom paint

  4. All waterlines replaced with Pex in 2020/2021

  5. Ultradeck composite side decks and coachroof

  6. New dodger, bimini and sail covers 2024

  7. New Genoa furler, sail and mainsail 2023/24

The boat is set up for long-distance cruising, and although she’s not 100% ready to go, as there are some minor things to address, her current owner has spent almost $85,000 over the last two years refitting her to head back out to explore the Pacific.
